  4. Are you tired of having to learn a new access program with each and every
  5. new shareware CD-ROM that you buy?  Are you tired of finding that your system
  6. argues with the access program built into the shareware CD-ROM that you just
  7. purchased?  Do you, as a SysOp, ever get tired of having to correct someone
  8. else's bizarre idea of what a file list should look like so that it can work
  9. on your system?

  11. Well, we are tired too, and the Arsenal Browser program was designed to
  12. eliminate problems one and two.  Problem #3, we licked by putting more BBS
  13. support on our discs than any other disc we have ever seen... (smile!)

  15. █████ The Arsenal Browser, what is it?
  16.  
  17. The Arsenal Browser is designed as a lean file-finding machine.  The design
  18. specifications called for it to run in as little memory as possible, and
  19. to run straight from the CD-ROM or from a hard drive.  Of course, the only
  20. way you are going to get it to run from the CD-ROM is to have it on an
  21. Arsenal CD-ROM... (smile!)  All of the commands are accessable with the
  22. single hit of the F1 key.  There aren't a lot... there's a search feature,
  23. a view feature, a copy feature, and an archive extraction feature.
  24. Basically, that's what you need when you are poking through a shareware
  25. CD-ROM looking for something useful.  There are no bells or whistles, no
  26. soundblaster music, no cute GUI screens, and only a limited amount of mouse
  27. support.  It's just a good, clean program that runs under DOS, or in a DOS
  28. window in Windows or OS/2.  It's been sucessfully ran under Win 3.1x,
  29. Windows 95 and OS/2 Warp to my knowledge.  Since it's actually a fairly
  30. basic program, it shouldn't have any trouble on any machine that can run
  31. DOS based programs.

  33. █████ How do I use it?
  34.  
  35. Well, just unzip the contents into a sub-directory of your choice.  Then,
  36. take a look at the CD-ROM that you wish to use it on.  Look for the "file
  37. listings" in the same directories as the files are in.  If there are
  38. file listings there, note the name(s).  If the file listings are called
  39. FILES.BBS, then you can literally use the same config file that comes in
  40. this archive.  If it has a different name, then edit the ARSENAL.CFG file
  41. to suit this name.  If there are NO file listings in there, you can still
  42. use it, just don't expect to see any descriptions in the right hand box...

  45. We have premade config files for several popular (and some not-so-popular)
  46. CD-ROMs available on our BBS for download on the first call.  If you can't
  47. config it yourself to your needs, call us and see if we have already done
  48. that for you.  The BBS rollover line is (913) 234-9395, and all lines are
  49. v.34 28.8k modems for a fast transfer.

  51. Once the ARSENAL.CFG file is up-to-date, then you simply type in the
  52. following from the directory where you put the Browser files:

  56. This is assuming that D: is your CD-ROM drive.  If it's E:, then put E there
  57. instead of the D.. I think that you probably can catch the clue here.. (grin!)

  59. That's it!  Sit back and enjoy the show!  The program has been written to
  60. make it as easy as possible to simply jump in.  Therefor, I'm not going to
  61. waste a bunch of time writing docs that won't be necessary anyway.  Just
  62. dive in there and try it!  (grin!)
